Our family enjoyed grilling out with Grandmama and Poppy this Sunday evening. Poppy wants to make it a weekly tradition this summer. We have to pick a day that works out with Uncle Clay's schedule too! Poppy misses the days when his whole extended family would gather together on Sunday evenings and feast on the traditional Sunday dinner. We're going to bring that tradition back to life this summer.Landon was SO wonderful and worked the whole afternoon marinating and preparing the Ginger-Soy chicken kabobs. It's Grandmama's famous recipe. We steal all her good dishes that she uses for entertaining! When we go over to her house, she has to be adventurous in trying out new things because we use her recipes during the week. Her kitchen along with Omi & Grandpa's is the "test kitchen" that we use to try out new entrees.
Miller was so proud to ride around in his new Step 2 car. He's watched with great interest the other little boys in the neighborhood stroll by in their cool cars probably wondering when he too could join in on all the fun. He sits so tall and proud with his hands on the steering wheel like a big boy driver. Thank you Kelli and Chanel for letting us borrow this oh so fun new ride. I happened to mention that this would be our next outdoor purchase for Miller and Kelli shared that Tucker's car was just hanging out in the attic looking for a new little driver. Thank you so much for your generosity. We'll put it to good use this summer!Poppy and Grandmama took turns maneuvering Miller around the yard and driveway while we got the meal together. Things got a little crazy when Poppy decided to tear off running with the car. Miller was shouting "Eeeeee" "Eeeee" on his fast ride with a wind plastered, wide toothed grin that could be seen a mile away. He then practiced getting in and out of the car on his own....exploring all the bells and whistles in his new ride. Each time he was successful getting in and out, we would clap and Miller proudly clapped back. This car is endlessly entertaining! Miller was so fascinated with its wheels that we turned the car on its side so he could show us his
famous wheel spinning game. This is what summer is for...relaxed afternoons with family, backyard fun, and BBQ's. I have a feeling it's going to be a great one!
