Disney Day 1: Checking In & Pool Time

Checking into Diney's Wilderness resort was a welcoming sight after our 8 hour car trip. The kids kept looking up to the towering top of the lodge in the lobby with their heads back taking in the wonder of a tree house look. This on- property lodge was so beautiful in a rustic sense. Landon loved feeling like he was out west again and that the hotel was modeled after The Yellowstone National Park lodge.  The Old Faithful geyser by the pool was another decorative touch for kids to watch while splashing around.

From the totem poles to the roaring fireplaces it was a cozy lobby.  The oversized rocking chairs outside gave it the feel of a lodge. I can only imagine what this resort looks like at all dolled up at Christmastime with the towering tree in the lobby that touches the ceiling. This would be an ideal resort to stay at if you traveled to Disney World in December:)
And, it was ideal for us this trip with such a close proximity to the Magic Kingdom. It was only a short boat ride away! We found our first room minus the bunk beds we had hoped for. They switch us to a bunk bed room, but it was on the ground level in a weird spot. We felt so high maintenance to request to be moved back to our original room with a wooded view sans the bunk beds. But, it was much larger and on just the right floor for easy pool access. The kids seemed to adjust just fine--we were in WDW after all. We settled in and put on our bathing suits!

Miller plunged into vacation mode taking a dip in the pool.

Eliza Kate insisted on wearing her puddle jumper. at the pool It seems that this swimmer forgot all about  her advanced swimming tricks from the end of last summer. She was flying solo in the water last July, but lost her no fear attitude on this trip.

Miller on the other hand was in his peak swimming mode after enduring weekly private lessons all winter in preparation for swim team. It's so wonderful to only have to stay close to one kiddo in the water. He mostly cruised down the water slide to exhaust his wiggles after being cooped up in his booster seat all day:)

These two were chillaxing on the chairs all bundled up with towels We watched the Disney pool crew host several trivia games to entertain us. It was a quick pool trip this go around. We loaded up our resort cups at the Roaring Fork not the way back up to the room. We had big plans to get cleaned up for dinner with Mickey and friends.
