Instead of missing out on neighborhood memories, my trusted phone is so easy to whip out and swipe a pic. It always makes me thankful for a fast shutter speed on my bulky camera to keep up with these boys. The quality isn't great, but this mommy's heart was all there. So here's to our fall rewind--
Our next door neighbor has a fire pit & we were able to hang out on a Friday night and roast S'mores on an early October fall evening.
The boys and dads walked along the sidewalk to a Friday night Pope football game. We absolutely love the fall sounds of football in our neighborhood. It's so cozy to hear the band and crowds cheering. Hometown Americana at its finest is the term Landon has coined for our hood:)
National Walk to School Day fell on the first day back after fall break. After a neighborhood donut party, our whole family laced up our shoes and followed the crowd through back neighborhoods and across one busy intersection on the trek to school. The first grade boys need to walk to school everyday. I'm sure their teachers appreciated their wiggles being worked out on the way to school.
Just call Landon "safety dad" :) I did witness extra uniformed support on this morning, but he sure did calm my jitters about getting our hood across the street. The kids were excited to claim an apple by the front door to school and slap a paper foot on the bulletin board marking their participation on this national day.
I'll leave you with a selfie from my first impromptu lunch visit with Miller ever. The lunchroom is my least favorite location in an elementary school. Give me the teacher's lounge or academic setting anyway over the cafeteria. I was volunteering as an AR helper in Miller's room & he just begged me to stay. Having your mom visit so you can take a friend to the special table is a coveted first grade privilege. Hey--whatever it takes to keep my boy inspired at school. We loved our date:) Happy Fall ya'll:)
