dolphin swimmers

We settled into our new normal of a summer schedule this week....
Our summer swim team morning practice has gotten us up and at em & into the swing of things early. We decided to sign EK up for practice on the pre competitive team (under 6's). At three years old, she's one of the youngest-- so we didn't have high expectations. After screaming the first few sessions, she now enjoys the lessons with Coach Beth everyday {as in she's not screaming}. They all were wimpering through the first few sessions. At the end of practice, she emerged with blue lips and shaking legs. Being a girl, she does follow directions amazingly well as compared to her brother at this age. She's so obedient and cooperative in the water.
While Eliza Kate swims with her 8:30 group, Miller is gallivanting around the grounds of the club and playscape with the kindergarten boy crew.  He looks forward to these play dates at the crack of dawn before the start of his 6U practice.

Her two little friends from the neighborhood are on the team, so that gives her some familiarity. It's fun to watch her develop these swim pals and have a life of her own outside of big brother.

The 6U team is mostly all boys except for one darling red headed little girl. Poor thing! Our hood is literally swimming with boys. Coach Beth asked all the little boys to recruit more girls for the team so they would have enough girls for a relay.

Miller's loving the Dolphin way of life at the pool. He's dive/belly flop/plunging off the block into the cold water. He makes it half way across the pool with crazy strokes until he finally comes up for air. He's still working on the breathing, kicking, arm movement coordination in the water. With no formal training last year, he is catching up a bit! I'm confident before the end of the month, he'll be saying "eat my bubbles":)

We're getting our exercise walking to the pool every morning with all our swim team gear in tow. Summer is off to a busy start and we're loving life as a family altogether again {most days}.
