There's really no better feeling than the freedom of all done with school & the readiness for summer vacation. Can't you feel the weight being lifted and the stress of Kindergarten being lifted off your shoulders like it was yesterday?...lol;)
I couldn't have orchestrated or planned a better bus exit than Miller gave me on the last day. He literally JUMPED off the stairs onto the pavement welcoming summer. His hands lifted high with a victory wave like he had just accomplished some big feat. Oh the drama of that boy of mine. I love this series especially as Miller's classmate Marshall who gets off at a different stop is peeking out the bus window one last time bidding Miller goodbye through the opening. He's usually shouting out through the crack--"Miller's mom, text my mom for a playdate"--:)
There was a lot of hose spraying and galavanting on the front yard right under the stop sign of the bus stop long after our driver pulled away. The laughter radiated the once calm streets and the sounds of summer already had a home in our neighborhood.
We learned that the trend on our new street is to soak the 5th graders on the last day of school. Somehow, everyone got wet this year. They couldn't stay out of the hose.
The rowdy crowd of friends {mostly boys} delivered the party to the Harris' cul de sac for an after school ice cream sundae party. We all contributed toppings for quite the treat.
This is just exactly what we hoped for in a neighborhood. Feeling blessed!
Since it was an early release day, EK enjoyed the bus stop exit party on the last day. She's usually happily snoozing from the comforts of her crib while I pick Miller up at our stop.
The little sisters {minus Emory & Nancy Claire} happily slurped on their sundaes far away from the water gun battles. They made sure to dodge the chaos of the crossfire. Oh the joys of little girls!
We ended up spending the early afternoon and evening at the pool to officially ring in summer.
