Goodbye to Kindergarten

The countdown to the last day of school is over & my kindergartener is now a rising first grader {sigh}
The long awaited day has come & gone and summer is upon us. This momma was excited, sad, and nostalgic all wrapped up into a ball of emotions on his last day of kindergarten ever…
We had several reasons to do a little victory dance right there on the front steps:)
 

Miller's grown up so much this first year of elementary school. I marveled at his Kindergarten journal reflecting on the quality of writing from the beginning of school to the last day. Amazing. We give full credit to the superior, standards driven instruction from his teacher. The last half of the year was the best educational experience he's had so far in his short little life. Mrs. G has a calling & she lived, breathed, walked, and talked about Kindergarten. I really don't think she slept or did anything else on the weekend besides working for our students. Whether it was putting together a weekly slideshow on her blog or emailing parents back at 4:30a.m., her dedication wow'ed us.  I'll be singing her praises for years to come! And, I'm afraid she's set the bar high in the expectation department.

The first and last day photo-a little side by side. The first photo was taken in front of Grandmama & Poppy's house during our transistion mode, but you'd never know it because we have nearly the same color brick. He lost a little bit of his cheek pudginess over the course of the year.His hands have officially lost their preschool pudge.
 Here's a few parting morning bus stop photos from the last day. No backpacks on the bus was the rule. And, in all honesty his Batman backpack that's escorted him every day of his Kindergarten career has seen better days. I think we're officially retiring it.

It was just a little crazy at the end of the line with the last day of school energy.
