While carpool is a huge bonus of morning drop off (especially in the rain), you don't get the face to face contact with the teachers or other moms to build a sense of community. My neighbor and I volunteered as the room moms this year & we decided early on that we wanted to plan a Friday social once a month with the whole class to get to know the other moms. The September social was at Dupree Park in Woodstock. I love this newly remodeled park. We had a great turnout of at least 12 kiddos with their moms. Miller has 16 boys in his class this year and 4 lovely girls. Can you believe that? Praying for extra patience for their dear teachers with all those active boys. Heaven knows she'll need an extra dose. "W" on the far left, just moved to the area this summer. I loved chatting with his mom and swinging with Eliza Kate and "W's" baby sister together.
We had glorious fall like weather! Miller started the day off in long sleeves then had a wardrobe change mid morning. Luckily, I had a t-shirt in the car. These transitional seasons make it hard to plan. Three very special visitors made an appearance..Ms, Cayla, Ms. Suzanne, and Ms. Kristen all showed up to meet and greet. The kids were elated! Have I mentioned we're thrilled with Miller's teacher this year? We are. Her disposition, attentiveness and kindness with the kids speaks volumes. Not to mention.... coming out to a park on your day off to picnic with the kids. That definitely sends a commitment message to the parents. It's not everyday that you get to feed the geese with your beautiful teacher.
These geese were far more active than Grandmama's frozen wooden statue in her living room . Eliza Kate is terrified of it and runs by with fear when she's in a certain radius of its presence. She warmed up to the real thing with time, and even threw some bread in the water from a far distance.
EK kept pointing and saying "duck". Hey, we'll take it. Looks like a duck to me!

After lunch, we snacked on ice pops and called it a day! Looking forward to all that is in store this year.
Already off to a great start!
