All I want for Christmas...

Is my two bottom teeth! Well, he won't have to wait until Christmas. It's official Miller is cutting his two bottom teeth. He woke up this morning with a crusty nose and it's been running ALL day long. We've been suctioning it to help him breathe. I just thought that he might be getting a cold or that the chlorine in the water from swim gym made him stuffy. That was our only sign..No fussiness or excessive drooling. Mommy instinct told me to feel his lower gum and sure enough there they were, two tiny little teeth peeking through to greet us. I anxiously called Landon to come share in the new discovery and confirm what I felt. He couldn't believe we had a teething baby. Landon comforted Miller and told him that this was the first step towards eating steak, potatoes and sausage....daddy's favorites. For now, we're still enjoying his toothless gummy grin but before long those tiny teeth will take over his mouth.

My favorite Hobby

I LOVE to scrapbook. It became a hobby of mine a few years back when Landon and I were planning our wedding. I enjoyed documenting each stage in the planning process, showers, the wedding etc. In college, I would watch my roommate scrapbook and think to myself," Do I have time for that?" Her pages always turned out so beautiful and it's such a keepsake that brings you back to wonderful memories. Memories that might fade over time..but the captions and pictures bring you back. The time it takes is well worth it because the finished product is a keepsake for a lifetime. My mom has even gotten into scrapbooking and we enjoyed a night of cropping a few weeks back. I have started Miller's First Year scrapbook, but it's slow going because we've been so busy. I try to carve out 20 minutes here and there. I've managed to get through the pregnancy pages and 3 months....still catching up!
I came across this poem to include in his scrapbook the other day & wanted to share it!
Today and always, you will be our little miracle. The baby years, so sweet and wonderful, Are all too short. Often we want to stop time, and hold you a little longer, but we will also cherish the daily joys of watching you grow and change. These pictures of you will make us smile each time we look at them, For they bring us back to those wonderful days of celebrating and welcoming you. They are our treasures and you are our heart.

Seeing Orange

There was a lot of ORANGE spotted around our house this weekend. Landon enjoyed dressing Miller in his alma mater's colors for Saturday's game. Miller looked adorable in his UT onesie..compliments of Omi. We think Miller was the good luck charm that won the game.

Did I mention that this was supposed to be a relaxed weekend? I don't think that exists around here anymore. Between watching the game on Saturday and entertaining Miller, Landon managed to clean and paint the garage. It's been on his "honey do" list for some time, so I was thrilled when he worked so hard to get it done!

Another highlight of our weekend was visiting Berry Patch Farms. It's a farm right up the road from our house that hosts events for children around Halloween and Christmas. We dressed Miller as a little pumpkin. It's something I've been envisioning in my head since August when I found his cute little beanie hat. Of course, I pictured the weather cool and appropriate for a hat, poor Miller, a sweaty pumpkin! The hat just barely stretched over his growing head. He was so enthralled by the hat when I showed him what he looked like in our bathroom mirror. He kept staring and smiling at himself..what a funny baby!
When we got to the pumpkin patch a few little girls wanted to take their picture with the baby pumpkin like he was a scarecrow or something to pose with at the farm. It was precious! We picked out our whopping 30 pound pumpkin, enjoyed the sights and took a zillion pictures. Can't wait to come back later in the month for a picnic with some friends from church!

My little GO-GO!

Fridays are always so much fun because you know you have the whole weekend ahead of you to enjoy with your family. We're looking forward to this weekend because we can finally get caught up with things around the house and just chill on Saturday. Last weekend was crazy busy and while that is fun I always like to have some freedom from being over scheduled.

Being busy doesn't bother Miller...He is such a go-go baby..He likes to be where the action is. He loves a party & watching people and his surroundings. I think he gets that from Landon. Landon never wants to miss a party!

I took Miller with me to Keheley's Fall Festival tonight. It was his first real outing to the school. It was so neat for him to meet my students from this year and in years past. I've taught at Keheley for seven years now and in that time have been able to teach kids and all their brothers and sisters too! You become part of their family and really bond with them. Miller was all smiles as he met all of mommy's kids before she had a kid. People used to ask me," Do you have kids?" and I would respond..."yes, 20!" You truly do treat them like they're your own.

Can you believe students from my first class ever are in 9th grade?? That's a shocker moment that makes me feel old. A few of them were at the festival and it was fun to catch up and have them meet Miller. Of course it was confusing for them to call him "Miller" because when I taught them I was Miss Miller!

After an hour or so at the festival, it was time to go home and give my go-go baby a bath, bottle & bed. He had an action packed day. We're looking forward to some chill time tomorrow. Happy Weekend!

Bobbing in the Pool

"Oh Baby" is the name of our new swim class & Oh baby is it ever fun. Meg, Jack and Miller loved the interaction and the moms loved the workout /social hour. It was too cute to watch Miller just barely peer over his yellow saucer as we swam laps in the pool. Jack's mom Paula was very competitive with her laps. Don't worry Miller, we'll beat her next week in the race! Meg stole the show in her tulip swimsuit. She' s a little fashionista for sure.

Miller enjoyed the warm water and squealed with contentment during our aerobic work out The mommies worked out upper body and lower body using our babies as weights. We all sang and swam together....what fun!

Miller was so worn out..he took a 2 hour nap when we returned. We both came home tired & hungry but most of all excited for next week!

Little Sipper in Training

We're enjoying watching Miller drink from a sippy cup. It's actually a sippy cup with training wheels..it's the next step on our way to drinking from a cup. It has the same top as a sippy cup but it's softer plastic for his gums. Miller enjoys holding the cup and dropping it to see what sound it makes. These cups are sturdy.. they roll, bounce & tumble and nothing comes out. He can hold the cup and drink but still needs work on the tilt to get all of the milk out!
In other news, Miller has a new item on his menu this week...green beans & squash! He has sampled rice cereal, oatmeal and homemade sweet potatoes so far. I was curious to see how he would take to green beans as they are not a sweet veggie. To my surprise he couldn't get enough!

Six Months Already??

Happy Six Month birthday baby Miller. I emphasize the word baby because I can already see these baby years flying by! We had a wonderful day ringing in Miller's half year birthday. Yep...that's right our baby has been around 6 months

already. I took his six month rocking chair pictures and they were pretty funny this month. It was hard to capture him without waving his arms, kissing teddy, climbing off the chair etc. He used to just sit there..those days are gone!

We got a special visit from Uncle Clay and Grandmama and Poppy tonight. The fam joined us for dinner and cupcakes to celebrate. Uncle Clay last saw Miller in the hospital so it was exciting to have him come over and play. He's such a great uncle..a natural with babies. Miller took to Clay right away smiling and touching his beard. He had him laughing in no time. Poppy joined right in on the fun and had Miller rolling on the floor and flying in the air.....these men and their rough housing...it makes a momma protective. They'll do anything to hear that happy heart felt giggle.

We finished the night off with chocolate cupcakes and a tired baby in his high chair. After downing 7 ounces of milk and a warm bath it was time to sleep after an exhausting day!

I included Miller's one month photo & six month photo to show how much he's grown already.
