The Ultimate Play Date has started back up this spring at East Cobb Park. We knew last fall that we wanted to catch these play dates early in the season before the summer heat ruined all of our fun. When Miller and I first got to the park we couldn't spot the friends we were meeting so I plopped down our blanket and set up camp. I got out Miller's new favorite stacking cups which lured two other babies Millers age over to play. Miller smiled and shared his cups gladly with his two new friends. I just love to watch him socialize and parallel play. It wasn't long before our friends Paula and Jack & Cristina and Sophia joined us. We connected our blankets and the babies had a big time crawling and interacting.
What a fun afternoon we had basking in this glorious 80 degree weather, listening to a fantastic guitarist entertain us all. He aimed to please the crowd playing a few kids songs in each set mixed in with adult favorites here and there. There were kids running around everywhere and dancing on the stage..the park was bursting at the seams with excitement. And, Miller couldn't get enough of it!
Meal time greeted us like a progressive dinner. Miller, Sophia and Jack all grazed upon each other's meals. They couldn't distinguish which Tupperware container was theirs so they just chose what looked good to them. It definitely added a little variety to our dinnertime rut of the same foods! Miller loved Jack's broccoli and turkey pieces and couldn't help himself to sample Sophia's grapes.
After a little food in his belly, Miller was ready to practice his walking skills. He saw a large bouncy ball beckoning him from across the way. I steadied his body and he was off! Well five steps and then a bottom plant, followed by five or so more steps and another bottom plant. He is doing so much better and I was proud of him for steadying himself of the grassy terrain. It feels a lot different than carpet. Miller's sweaty, grassy haired appearance was a sign that he was all played out for the day. It was time to load up the car and head home just in time to scrub up in the tub. This baby was pooped! We're looking forward to many more grassy haired, sweaty day "ed", ultimate play dates in the park.
